Winbeam
is a broadband wireless Internet Service
Provider (ISP) serving commercial
and residential customers throughout
Pennsylvania.
Mission
Statement
Our mission is to become the leading enabler of
broadband Internet services in the markets we
serve.
Company
Background
Winbeam,
Inc. was incorporated in January of
2000, as a Pennsylvania "C"
corporation. Quaker Capital Partners
I, LP, an investment partnership of
Quaker Capital Management, in addition
to a group of its investors and principals
invested the initial stage venture
capital into the company. The company
believes this capital is sufficient
to aggregate spectrum exceeding 1
million households and provide sufficient
capital to operate one to three pilot
deployments of fixed wireless data
services over MMDS spectrum.
Throughout
the year 2000, the company was in
the development stage, aggregating
MMDS spectrum, preparing the two-way
license filings for the markets and
refining its business plan. During
2000, WinBeam signed definitive purchase
agreements to acquire MMDS spectrum
passing approximately 2 million households,
mostly in Pennsylvania and contiguous
regions. During October of 2001 WinBeam
launched its first operating system
in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Winbeam,
via acquisition and growth, has expanded
wireless offerings via 2.5Ghz and
2.4Ghz frequencies to service Altoona,
Bellwood, Duncansville, Erie, East
Freedom, Hermitage, Hollidaysburg,
Martinsburg, Roaring Spring, Sharon,
Tyrone, & Tipton. Winbeam will
continue to expand into other Pennsylvania
regions throughout 2005.
Facilities
Winbeam is headquartered in Greensburg,
PA.
